North Chickamauga Creek Trib. Panther Creek Rock Harvesting / Strip Mine
Location: Approx 10 feet from Panther Creek, a significant feeder stream of North
Chickamauga Creek. This is the creek that comes in from river left at V-Ledge Rapid.
At this location the rock harvesters drilled and blasted the bed rock layers that were about 10 feet from Panther
Creek, a significant feeder stream of North Chickamauga Creek. A silt fence was placed in the Panther Creek's flood
zone but was buried from the rubble during the blast. Ironically it doesn't appear that any of the rock was harvested.
All the loose rock is now in a big mess in the flood zone of the feeder stream. TDEC was contacted about this matter,
they say that harvesters are not supposed to do any blasting.
No Reclamation, Significant erosion impact which will probably worsen with each rain fall.
