Bear Creek

First Descent -approx 1991- Ron Stewart and Doug Welman, low water and lots of portaging, they boated the upper half of the run (to the confluence) and walked out in the dark

Second Descent- This one was actually the first full descent. Completed by Ron Stewart, Doug Wellman, Scott Shoup(C-1), and Lone Wolf. It was on this run that Ron did the first descent of Stairway To Heaven. He was the only one in the group to run it that day.

Most Runs In 1 Day (6 Runs): Feb 22nd, 2005 - Lane Rankin and Mark Lyle

Shortly after the first two descents Bo Eakens, John Regan and Roger Zabel (ran everything except Surrealistic Pillow) John Regan and Roger Zabel were the only two to run Big Bang on the left with Roger landing solidly on rock. Roger was hurt and convinced rest of group to walk.
Stairway to Heaven: Ron Stewart
Surrealistic Pillow: Tracy Clapp(main line)Accidently?
Surrealistic Pillow: Clay Wright (far right line)
Big Bang - left side John Regan and Roger (both injured?), Big Bang - right side Tracy Clapp
1st Complete Bear Run: Tracy Clapp- Barely missed the last eddy before Surrealistic Pillow, got turned around and ran it backwards, which probably helped him out. There was a log in the rapid and he went right under it with his entire torso leaning over the bow of the boat. An excellent position to be in to get under the log.

Marginal- John Kennedy was the first to run Marginal followed by John Regan and then a scary run by Rex, as he got hung up on the center rock and almost went into the undercut on the right side. John blew most of the seams out on his boat the Marginal Monster drop.
Bo Eakens-"
Almost every boat on that trip had the noses pointing skyward after the trip. The Hollowforms were NOC safety boats, and they were never quiite the same again!"

Holcomb Creek

West Fork of the Chattooga Trib.

Alan Singley attempted this in perhaps 1976

Alan paddled down as far as he could until the creek literally leaps off the side of the mountain (unrunnable) on its way to the Three Forks, then carried down the mountain and finished the run out the West Fork.
